I’m currently reading On the Come Up by Angie Thomas. I had the highest of expectations going into this and, happily, they have all been not only met, but exceeded. Thomas is so incredibly talented at bringing her characters to life. Bri, the m/c, has such a strong, distinctive voice and I love reading from her perspective. She’s headstrong, knows her own mind and is really passionate about her craft. I love how unapologetically ambitious she is about her rap career. I’m only about halfway through at the moment, but I can’t wait to follow the rest of Bri’s journey.
