WWW Wednesday 2 #blogmas

Blogmas 11

Now that I’m off work and I’m back from Edinburgh I can focus on my reading again. I’ve only really been managing audio books and graphic novels recently, so I’m looking forward to the next couple weeks of reading.

WWW Wednesday was created by A Daily Rhythm and revived by Taking on a World of Words.

The rules are that you need to answer the following three W’s:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Everdark

I am currently reading Everdark by Abi Elphinstone. This is the prequel to Rumblestar that I read back in November that was especially released for World Book Day. Although I’m already familiar with the events that take place in this as I’ve already read Rumblestar, I’m still really enjoying the execution of this and the introduction to this storyworld. It’s just as whimsical and fun and well-written as Elphinstone’s other works and I’m looking forward to seeing how exactly this novella ties up and leads into Rumblestar.

The Snow Dragon

I’ve recently just finished reading The Snow Dragon by Abi Elphinstone & Fiona Woodcock. It’s the sweetest picture book about an orphan girl, Phoebe and her dancing sausage dog as they spend their Christmas alone in the orphanage as all the other children have been adopted. It’s exactly as sad and emotional as it sounds and it really got to me in places. The illustrations by Woodcock are so stunning. They perfectly encapsulated the story and gave the book a certain wintry atmosphere that looks cold but makes it feel warm, if that makes sense? Overall, I found this picture book to be a really moving read and would highly recommend it to everyone. It was a really quick read, but so impactful, especially reading it during the winter holidays.

Warcross

My next read will be Warcross by Marie Lu. This is one of the books on my TBR this month that I was already halfway through. The last time I picked this one up was back in September, so I’m really looking forward to getting back into it, considering how much I was enjoying it at the time. I hate that I put this down and didn’t find time to pick it back up given that it’s probably going to be a solid four star read for me, but there you go – I make terrible decisions! Hopefully I can get to the sequel a lot quicker than it took for me to finish Warcross.

So that’s it for today’s WWW Wednesday post. What are you currently reading this Wednesday?
